I found your blog Googling this morning to make sure I got the line right (I am working on an entree in my own blog on Ecclesiastes).

Here is how I cope with the gap between my Christian convictions and the actions of America.

America is considered "Christian" nation only because it has more Christians than Buddists or Muslims. Some of our founders were Christians and some were not. But while many of us are Christians, our government is secular and for sure that is how it acts. While it does many grievous things, why do we expect anything except secular actions based on political expediency?

And think about it, do you really want a Christian government? It surely would not be. You know the history of Israel and they, for a time at least, had the only true theocracy the world has ever seen. And we know how well that went.

America isn't the only country with the blood of innocents on its hands. And it isn't just millions of babies we have killed. It's millions of Native Americans and millions of African slaves as well... this at the time of what some consider our "Christian" heritage.

When Jesus was on earth, his biggest criticisms were not of the powerful pagan Romans but of Jewish religious leaders of the day. If we imagine Jesus incarnate in our times, would it would be us that he exchanged barbs with?

The craziness continues,

Craigsoupspicerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04792181075286018529noreply@blogger.com
